Reasons to get Income Tax Notice

My this blog is related to tell you about some reasons that a Taxpayer may get Income Tax Notice. 


If you violate any rules of the Income Tax Department, then notice is sure to come to you. Let us tell you about some Income tax related mistakes for which you may also have to face the notice of Income Tax Department. Let's discuss in details:

  • Not filing ITR on time

The most important thing is that you file your income tax return on time, i.e., before the last date. This time, this date is 31 July. Those who do not file ITR on time, they are certain to get notice of Income Tax Department.

  • Filling the wrong ITR form

As you know Income Tax Department issues different ITR-forms for filling Income Tax Return. Even if you filled the wrong ITR form while filing ITR, you can get notice from the Income Tax Department. Depending on your source of income and many other reasons, it is decided which form to fill.

  • Not disclose complete source of Income

If you do not know all your sources of income intentionally or accidentally, then you can get notice of Income Tax Department. Explain that you earn interest from the money deposited in the account and rent from the house. In such a situation, you have to take care from which sources you are earning. Also note that scrutiny can occur if any information is not correctly matched.

  • Forget to E-verify ITR

If you miss getting the ITR e-verification done, then your ITR becomes invalid. In such a situation, it cannot be processed and you get a notice from the Income Tax Department. That is, in such a situation it is believed that you have not filed ITR. After filing income tax everyone is given 120 days time for e-verification or get it signed and send it to the Income Tax Department by post.

  • Different information in income and TDS

Through Form 26AS, you get an idea of ​​how much of your income sources are taxed. This information is found on the basis of your PAN. In this case, you need to compare your Form 16 and Form 26AS. You may come to notice if there is any mismatch between them.
